David Gilmour joined Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Rick Wright, and the Floyd went on to produce the multi-million-selling masterpieces The Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall. Waters now provided the band's motive force, the 1983 album The Final Cut virtually a solo project as rancorous divisions set in. It took 20 years to heal the rift, the 2005 Live 8 concert hailed by legions of fans, who celebrated the return of the classic line-up of one of the most influential bands in history.
