Seller's Description

Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1986 Ken Russell Horror Movie GOTHIC starring Gabriel Byrne, Julian Sands, Natasha Richardson and Timothy Spall.

The film is a fictionalized retelling of the Shelleys' visit to Lord Byron in Villa Diodati by Lake Geneva, shot in Gaddesden Place. It concerns their competition to write a horror story, which ultimately led to Mary Shelley writing “Frankenstein” and John Polidori writing "The Vampyre."

Poster art by Paul Dufficey Born in Birmingham in 1948 Paul Dufficey was first discovered by Derek Jarman in 1971 who saw two of Dufficey’s paintings in the Young Contemporaries exhibition in London and hired him to create drawings, paintings and sculpture for Savage Messiah, Ken Russell’s film about Henri Gaudier-Brzeska. As a result, Dufficey designed all the sets, props and graphics for Ken Russell’s Pop Art masterpiece, Tommy (1975).

The poster is in fine unfolded (rolled) condition.
