Default Moving away from the "Dutch Auction" terminology?

I've just noticed this in the help pages:

Multiple listings, please use Multi-item Auctions
It is not fair on other members to show row after row of the same identical item.
This has an adverse effect on the entire community.
If you want to list multiple identical items please list as a Multi-item Auction.
We currently allow one auction, be it a normal or multi-item auction, to be placed in a single category. Do not place the same item in many different categories.

How nice to see "Multi-item" being used instead of Dutch, which was never very helpful. Has anybody noticed if this change in terminology is site-wide?

Yes i agree most my items are fixed price muti-item, and it was annoying to have them called Dutch Auctions.

Most of my listings are also fixed price multi-items and I found it confusing to call them Dutch Auctions but then many things confuse me so I just thought it was normal

I always thought Dutch auctions were only available in The Netherlands (he he)

But I do agree that we should not have rows after row of the same item like on another very large auction site.
    That just annoys people.

It's only the name that's changed.

The terminology is still all wrong - pushing close to gibberish.

Multiple listings, please use Multi-item Auctions
I, and just about every other seller, have 'multiple listings' but they are not all the same thing, and so do not require 'Multi-item Auctions'.

The term 'auction' is also used incorrectly all over the site where the term 'listing' should be used (I think this is a throwback to the earliest days of online auction sites). A listing for multiple items at a fixed price is not an auction.

I think eBid would benefit from hiring a proof reader (or Kim).

    From 1 1/2 Years ago.....

feeBay is discontinuing Dutch Auctions on May 6, 2009,
but says it remains committed to Auction-style listings. "We value the format, and will continue to support other forms of Auction-style listings going forward," according to the announcement. feeBay said users found Dutch auctions confusing and said it found most sellers were listing multiple items with Fixed Price or Store Inventory formats. "These formats are easier and more cost-effective for sellers and less confusing for buyers." This change only affects auction-style listings with a quantity of 2 or more products. Sellers may list multi-quantity products in Fixed Price or Store Inventory formats.

    Yes Astral !

I have always though that calling all these sites Auction sites is a bit ridicules now.

People have the choice, but most items are put up as fixed price or buy it nows.

So I always refer to them as listings.
