There is nothing wrong with haggling or what is technically termed as negotiated selling, if I understand the term correctly. There are actually some industries where negotiation has been the accepted form of doing business for decades here in the US. Automobile sales is one that comes to mind.
In an auction, the seller offers an item for sale to the highest bidder with the price being determined by competitive bid. In a negotiated sale the price is determined by the buyer & seller reaching a mutually agreeable price. In retail sales the seller sets the price and the buyer decides if they are willing to pay the seller's price and buy it or not. I see nothing wrong with any of those methods.
