The BBC already subsidize some of their channels with advertising. They are joint owners of UKTV along with Scripps Media.
They also have paid-for advets on their website when viewed from outside the UK.
Would requiring a need for a licence to view iPlayer material work ?. No. How would they be able to work out whether someone streaming last night's Countryfile has a TV licence or not?.
All good things come to those who wait, and wait, and wait.....
There is nothing very good on the tv these days.

I am not so sure, Max Keiser makes a fair bit of sense. RT, Euronews and others report when there are riots in Spain, Portugal, Greece and elsewhere (for example). The BBC continually spout that the world wide recession is over. They rarely report on European austerity problems. They prefer to show happy smiling people all enjoying their jobs and saying how wonderful it is to be in the UK now austerity is over? inflation is beaten? and house prices are fair and there is no need to be worried. Reminds me a little of an Orwellian tale, name escapes me?
