Is it me, or does nobody else find the emails from eBid are just a little too cluttered?
I have received 3 messages for a sale of one of my items. One to tell me I sold it, one to tell me it was paid for and one from the buyer supplying me personalised instructions for their item.
The one telling me I sold the item has (in full screen mode) over 80 lines of text.
This starts with adverts prompting me to download the eBid iPhone/android app.
I then have a link, with supporting text pointing me to the main eBid website.
A few lines telling me I sold an item and congratulating me.
Then a link for me to manage the sale followed by 6 lines now telling me how I can manage the sale.
I then get a summary of the actual sale (when it was bought, the buy now price, the quantity bought and the total value of the sale).
There are then 14 lines that tell me all of the shipping details for the item (but the sales summary page doesn't tell me ANYWHERE which shipping option the customer selected)
I then get a link to the actual listing
Then 11 lines with the buyers details.
A few more lines with a link telling what I should do next.
A few more lines thanking me for using eBid and happy trading.
And finally, another link, with supporting text pointing me to the main eBid website.
There is no real formatting, bold, italics, tables etc, to highlight the relevant from the irrelevant. And I have yet to go through the 'paid' and 'message' email yet.

Anyway, as this thread is titled, here is my suggestion. A concise confirmation email with the following details;
Item description
Quantity purchased
Sales price per item
Shipping method selected
Total sales price (Qty*sales item price + shipping)
Buyer details
Buyers comments (this would require a comment field in every listing which is then attached to the sales notification email).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It would also be nice if eBid marketing was sent in separate emails so I can read, or delete, without having to dredge through lines and lines of text trying to find the relevant SALES information I require.
If eBid is really serious about trying to build up its own business, and really start to compete with the likes of eBay/Amazon/etsy etc, you should really start to listen to your members and get your finger out in fulfilling some of the requested features. The biggest one I can see being listing variations (different size/colour options) allowing the customer to make multiple choices for their purchases.
Anyway, rant over.
