Hello Everyone .. tis Vonz here.
Middle of the night, but I can't sleep, so i'll put pinkies to keyboard and keep my friends updated.
Wow, just wow, I don't think i've ever been so gobsmacked in my entire life. The best wishes, love, cards, flowers, messages (a full pm box) .... i'm going through a box of tissues every day!!
Every little instance is truly, truly appreciated and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart ..... you know who you are ...
So, an update on my situation:
I had a bronchoscopy (sp) on Tuesday and was duly called to the Oncologist, Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday (ye Gads they are taking no prisoners and i'm just being swept along).
A small glimmer of good news, I have what's called Small Cell Cancer, pretty aggressive but also one of the most receptive to chemotherapy. It is fairly wide spread, kidney, lungs, windpipe etc. etc. but the idea is to keep me where I am now for as long as humanly possible.
I start chemo on Friday (27th) morning 11.30am. and I AM going to be very sick and lose all my hair!!
Until the docs can evaluate my response to treatment .... there is no prognosis ... I could have a couple of weeks or a year ... no-one knows.
So, in the meanwhile, we are in the midst of absolute upheaval in an effort to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. Shelley, SIL, Grandkids are moving back home and i'm setting up a bedsit in a downstairs room. I have a small downstairs bathroom too, so things shouldn't be that bad.
I never thought in a million years that all this crap would happen to me ... I was somehow immune from life's curveballs.
So, thank you all again .... need to take some meds now.
Yvonne x

Hang in there Vonz. Stay as positive as possible in this very tough fight. Hoping that the chemotherapy effects are manageable and that you respond positively to treatment. My thoughts and prayers continue for you and your family members.
