I tried bicarbonate of soda with a few stamps, and also included a bowl of cat litter as well (suggested by a neighbour - as this removes smells from fridges) and it worked. I am now trying it out on a couple of stamp albums - hopefully the method will also get into the pages of the albums and remove the odour (if the odour got into the albums in the first place, then the cure will should also hopefully do so !).
I like those methods.
I quite often get postcards that are affected this way and I simply leave then on a window shelf for a while... sometimes a long while!
i’ve had a terrible time removing cigar smoke from used books but i found that some gonzo odor eliminator works great. what i did was buy a bag of the stuff off amazon, i put the book and bag in a plastic storage bin and left it. i never had a problem with used books again. afterward you put the bag outside in some sun and fresh air and you can use it again. they sell two bags for 19$ in US. i don’t know how it works anywhere else.
