I'm not sure why you think RM 2nd class is to be axed in the near future? Why do you think that?

I've sent most parcels that I've sold here RM 2nd class with no complaints from buyers, it gives reasonably quick delivery at an economical price.

Isn't it possible that there isn't much of an increase (this time around) because at £2.69 people find it safe , reliable and (compared with other services) at least something like cheap and far safer than couriers who might be a few pence cheaper but are far less reliable? It's possible that RM is finding that 2nd class is profitable at its current price, so just doesn't want to rock the boat that working for them?

I’m not saying that it will be abolished BUT Royal Mail have regularly said that they can’t support the idea of 2 deliveries- I think this is corporate speak for abolishing 2nd class altogether - let’s see what happens - in the meantime now need to update all the overseas postage rates which bizarrely are the same at under 100g but then differ significantly for large letters thankfully I only use 2nd class in UK

Not sure if it's true or not, but I think it was mentioned that 2nd class was only going to be delivered twice every week, instead of daily.
And as for my post delivery, i've always recieved 1st and 2nd class in the same delivery, so maybe 2 different deliveries is a regional thing.

Royal Mail deliver once a day a mixture of 1st and 2nd class, parcels may be separate. The idea of delivering 2nd class alternate days, Mon, Wed, Fri is being considered, but may come to nothing.

These days I seem to only get 2 deliveries a week and as you say, a mixture of 1st and 2nd class plus any smaller parcels. Larger parcels are generally delivered later in the day (any day of the week including weekends it seems).

Didn't realise that reduction to 2nd class services was even being discussed. Hope they don't muck it up with changes that haven't been thought through properly as it seems to work for me and my buyers as it is.

    Fingers crossed.

The USA postal service is adding "Peak Fees" for the upcoming holidays.

Not really sure if I will bump up my prices or just hang in there.

I had to post a parcel yesterday, first time in years as nearly everything is envelopes for me.
I labelled up the parcel with weight, 245gm, type of parcel 2nd parcel, and the correct value in stamps which I always have at home, and printed the value on the parcel, also return sticker.
The Post Office refused to take it. They said they needed to weigh and check the value, and the queue time was 30 minutes. I walked out and will not try to post parcels in future with the post office.

They don't like accepting "pre-paid" parcels because they want to sell you their stamps/labels, they don't make anything if you've used stamps you had at home.

There's often long queues at the main post office near me but not for posting stuff, it's mostly for all the other services they do. When I post parcels I usually use a small sub-PO in a local corner shop that isn't able to offer the other services. Usually no queues at all.

Royal Mail are trying to distance themselves away from the post office, I use click and drop mainly large letters but when i have to post parcels using click & drop i either take to the local DO or put them in royal mails parcel post boxes which are really handy, If i use click and drop and then drop my parcel at a post office royal mail charge me 39p for using the post office as a drop off point, I love click & drop and those parcel post boxes, No need for post offices for me anymore, My wife works for royal mail and she gets 50 free 1st class stamps every christmas and we have hundreds dating back years, i do stick some stamps on sometimes but i like to get tracking which you don't get with stamps.
