Default What am I doing wrong? All constructive advice very welcome, thanks.

    Hi, I’m Jo
I’m relatively new to eBid, but I’m not new to online marketing. I sold successfully on the biggest eB— platform for 8 year's, 100% positive feedback that spanned those 8 years and over 1700 sales.
I’m an individual not a business, I moved to eBid because I was having to work stupid hours in order to cover the expenses of using that “other” platform.

Just over 4 months ago I submitted several listings of different items, test items as it were, I wanted to keep it small and manageable until I became confident using a new platform , here we are over 4 months on and not 1 sale, I’m pricing lower than the competitor site on most things and my listings are getting a fair amount of views. Does anyone have any feedback on why it might be that none of my listings are selling? And if anyone has any advice on how I can improve this lack of sales I would really appreciate it, likewise, where as I was making between 2 to 5 sales a day on the other platform, what might be a realistic goal for the amount of sales per month that I could feasibly aim for?

All constructive feedback and advice is welcome and very much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,
    Kind regards
    Jo

The lack of sales is at least related to the lack of site advertising - eBid is one of on-line sellings best kept secrets.

It is possible to make use of 'google selling' by following the eBid description / price settings guidance and that tends to bring in some casual results. If you sell unique and /or desireable items most buyers will find you from google.

If you are still using eBay, message Elench on the eBid site as that person appears to have made a sucesssfull transition from eBay. There is a fair bit about this topic on existing eBid threads.

To be truly sucessfull the eBid site needs to be, and remain, in the public eye.

I sell around 500 items a month, and Ebid is successful for me because I can list unlimited items at no cost until sold.
But here is the thing, I have 50000 items listed. That means I sell 1% of my listed items in a month.
If you can do that, then Ebid is made for you.

Hi @Gfg and welcome to Ebid.

I think it takes a while for buyers to find sellers after they join ebid so I wouldn't be too dis-heartened after four months. As @Stnenopmoc says this isn't helped by the lack of advertising, but after quite a few years of having only a handful of sales a year things seemed to come together for me during the Covid lock-downs and my sales increased into the 20s and have stayed there every year since.

I don't really know why, but I tried several things that possibly helped, some of which I started doing before lock-down but they seemed to work.

Firstly, I was lucky enough to be down-sizing my collection of Art Deco Glass and when I started listing items on Ebid I found my category very under-populated with only about 25 items listed. After I started listing 1 or 2 items every week, when I reached about 100 sales did start to creep up slowly. By the time I had 200 listings I was starting to get regular sales and although I still list something every week, I've never reached 300.

At some point I started my regular "Plug Your Auction" (PYA) thread, high-lighting each weeks new item. (At first they only got 15-20 views in a week, now they regularly get 40-50 sometimes into the 60s)

I think regular listing helps, not only by keeping page 1 of the search results from looking stagnant, but by giving google shopping (GS) a broad target range when it selects which ads. to show if date of listing is one of its criteria.

Another thing that I think helps is that I always leave FB for my buyers. Getting any FB can be hard here, but by leaving FB for others potential buyers who check yours do have something to read and they can see that I've completed more transactions successfully than my FB shows. I have 96 FB, but I've left 178 for others. I've sold 149 items.

During lock-down I started paying more attention to GS and tried to work out how to get more of my ads. shown there. The regular listing helps but read ebid's conditions for up-loading. I check GS regularly to see how many of my ads. are shown and use it for price comparison and research, which I think also helps jog its memory of me. It does seem to prefer showing my ads. that are several years old and as I have most of the listings in my category, GS has put me on its "Sites Searched" side-bar.

Hope this gives you some pointers. Others will, I'm sure, be along with tips about social media and other help. I think some patience is helpful on any new site as you build your presence and reputation. One thing I used to do if I felt a little despondent in times of few sales is to have a look at the Home Page and the carousel of "Recently Sold" items. It shows that beneath the surface things sell on ebid continuously.
Good luck for lots of sales.

    Edited to add.
You seem to have picked a bad time to start on Ebid as my sales came to a stop in April this year, with only one in July since. Until then I'd had the best start to any year on here with 25 sales between 1/1/24 and the beginning of April. But it seems that people are spending less everywhere, on obay I've sold 3 items this year, the last one in May.
