Seller's Description
ts108 Antique 6" x 4" postcard sized and appearance souvenir of Bill Gregson and his Performing Band - please note whilst the front of the card is postcard in its appearance it is an old photo from around the late 1940s - some aging mainly reverse so graded good minus - please allow - I have found this information on them on the wwb and there is details of their performances on Brighton when published on the reverse too. Please see image 2.
The band consists of eleven instrumentalists divided into three sections, brass, percussion, and reed.
Through it's many broadcasts it's winter season at Southport and summer season at Morecambe, and it's long association with Liverpool, the band has become a household name throughout the north of England.
Bill Gregsons band has been mentioned on here before, they were very popular in the late forties & had a regular show every Sunday afternoon at the Scala cinema in Kingsway, it started at 3 pm & included an amateur talent competition & a quiz in the interval, we as teenagers were there every week after closing time in the brick vaults,i believe Bill Gregson was chaiman at Skelmersdale football club for a while too.
