Remake of the 1969 French film 'La Femme Infidele' or The Unfaithul Women in the US. A story about a normal couple living in New York with a good life until the wife gets involved in an adulterous affair. The windy scene at the beginning of this film is comparable to an objective correlative which forebodes a disastrous outcome, which does come about.
Connie (Diane Lane) is happily married to Edward (Richard Gere) and she accidentally meets Paul (Olivier Martinez) a handsome Frenchman on a very windy day in New York City. In fact, she fell down on him as he is holding numerous books, and she is holding a couple of shopping bags. She injures her knee; he offers her a band-aid and some tea. She accepts. She leaves, and returns. And returns, and returns (from her Connecticut home). She has a whirlwind affair with the sexy Frenchman--whirlwind like the windy day. Connie's husband, who adores her, finds out out about her affair with the Frenchman, and goes to see him. It's a disastrous encounter, one he and Connie have to live with the rest of their lives. The acting in this film is outstanding. The boy (Erik Per Sullivan) who plays Connie and Edward's son is darling.
