CHAU1407 This is a vintage hand signed 1966 first day cover with three historic signings of explorers Wally Herbert, Ranulph Fiennes and also John Blashford Snell - this is mostly great condition - has some pencil details to accompany the signings on reverse - All the explorers autographs are undedicated - Ex minus grading and surely one of the most specialist explorers autograph opportunity of its kind.
Colonel John Nicholas Blashford-Snell CBE is a former British Army officer, explorer and author. He founded Operation Raleigh and the Scientific Exploration Society.. He has mounted over a hundred expeditions over the past 50 years all over the world, concentrating on scientific research and community aid. In the 2019 New Year Honours list JBS was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to scientific research abroad and to young people in the UK.
Sir Ranulph Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, 3rd Baronet OBE, commonly known as Sir Ranulph Fiennes and sometimes as Ran Fiennes, is a British explorer, writer and poet, who holds several endurance records. Named by the Guinness Book of Records as the worlds greatest living explorer, Sir Ranulphs many ambitious endeavours have pushed his endurance levels to the very limits . Amongst his many record-breaking achievements, he was the first to reach both Poles, the first to cross the Antarctic and Arctic Ocean, and the first to circumnavigate the world along its polar axis.
Sir Walter William Herbert was a British polar explorer, writer and artist. In 1969 he became the first man fully recognized for walking to the North Pole, on the 60th anniversary of Robert Peary's disputed expedition. He was described by Sir Ranulph Fiennes as "the greatest polar explorer of our time".
