MATERIALS
FABRIC: Use good quality cotton fabric. Bali Pops™ and jelly rolls are wonderful for this project.
You can also use the new Bali Snaps™ or charm square packs
TOP BORDER: 6 strips 2½” x 42/44” strips (½ yard) or 24 - 5” squares
BAG BODY AND POCKETS: 1 yard of one fabric or ½ yard each of two coordinating fabrics
BINDING, SASHING AND HANDLES: ½ yard
BATTING: 1 yard Use medium weight batting 45” wide
MATCHING COTTON THREAD: This project uses a lot of thread. Before beginning, pre-fill at least 2 bobbins. Use a 50-weight 2-ply thread
BUTTONS: Eight 1” buttons (or more for a layered look)
MAGNETIC BUTTONS by Bohin: 2 buttons
Other Tools: Sewing Machine with a good zigzag stitch, sewing machine needles - Microtex 90/14 (for straight stitching) and Jean’s or Denim 110/ 18 (for zigzag stitching). Scissors (both large and small), rotary mat, 60mm rotary cutter, acrylic rulers, chalk, seam ripper, hand sewing needles, measuring tape. Design or foam core board (16”x 20”)
