Marfa Plume Cabochon: Awesome Dark Plumes in Translucent White; 100+ cts; Texas

A truly grand cabochon with beautiful near-black plumes centered on this large gem. The plumes (feather-like inclusions composed of manganese) have a bit of metallic sparkle and change from black to a dark bronze depending on the lighting. There are a few small, sparkling druzy vugs, too. The polish is excellent, though softer in the areas where the plumes reach the surface (typical for this material). Rare and very collectable variety, especially in this size. The back is unpolished. A standout gem for your collection or as the centerpiece of an impressive unique jewel design.
