Seller's Description
Post Card of Portmeirion, Wales (The Village in "The Prisoner”) – Colour Photo from a Balloon
- Dates covered: Purchased sometime between 2005 and 2015
- Size 14.7cm wide x 10.5cm tall unfolded
- Weight 4 g
- Condition Good and unused since purchase - though two corners are slightly dog eared – see images
- General Comments: Portmeirion was the setting for the iconic “The Prisoner” TV series from the 1960’s, staring Patrick McGoohan, who always seemed a bit angry. Alas the TV series got a bit silly towards the end but retains cult status. This photo was apparently taken from a balloon. Portmeirion was actually designed/built by the British architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis from 1925 to 1975 and is based upon a style found in Italian villages. It’s definitely worth a visit if you are on the west coast of North Wales. Accessible by car, but why not take the Cambrian coast train line and walk about a mile from Minffordd railway station.
