Heres a very nice Sony D 193 Discman personal CD player. Everything needed to reliably replay Cd Discs is present on this machine. the transport is operated by play/pause, stop, last track/fast reverse, next track/fast search. To the opposite side of the front panel theres an electronic volume control, this is pressed either to the left or the right depending on whether the audio is being adjusted up or down. This adjusts the output of the standard 3.5 mm mini phones jack. Below this control is a "menu" button and this allows various sub functions to be accessed. To the centre line theres a two way slide switch that sets sony's "Mega Bass" circuit either on or off, this provides a good degree of low frequency extension to the audio signal. The spring loaded lid is opened by pressing the front panel mounted "open" button and this releases the locking catch.
The player operates by using 2 X AA Batteries (not supplied). Alternatively it can be powered by 4.5 volt DC power supply (not supplied) that can be connected to the rear mounted 4.5 volt DC power input jack.
Sound quality produced by this player is very good, theres a good degree of presence and everything is easy to follow. A nice stereo image allows everything in a recording to be placed in its correct position, this extends to a believable amount of depth also. This player will repaly cdr discs. It was tested using a quality blank burnt at 8 X speed with a playback time of 79 minutes. the player replayed this perfectly. It should be noted that this player does not feature a ESP circuit, and as such reliable disc replay cannot be guaranteed when the unit is used while jogging, jumping up and down or in a car for example,in short, this means that the unit has no shock protection and when subjected to sudden movement the laser may mistrack, neither will it reliably replay cdrw discs or cdr discs of poor quality or those burnt at high speed, similarly dirty or defective cd discs will not reliably replay. Track access times are fast and the player was found to replay very well.
By taking a look at the supplied photos it can be seen that the player is in excellent condition. the fine silver finish shows only the very slightest suggestion that it has been previously used. All functions and controls operate perfectly and the player is free of all defects having been thoroughly tested before listing for sale.
