From The Editor
Dear WORKBASKET Reader:
To celebrate February’s St. Valentine’s Day, we have devoted this issue of The WORKBASKET to a “hearts and flowers” theme.
You’ll find a selection of flower transfers to be embroidered or painted on pillowcases, luncheon cloths, children’s clothes or whatever you choose to decorate. And with spring in the near future, relieve the boredom of winter by reading how to start seedlings indoors. This article will give you valuable information on the right way to start your plants, then read the tips for planning your flower beds and borders to beautify your property.
Knit a “Country Hearts Sweater” (pictured on the cover) for yourself, the “Valentine Special” for a daughter, granddaughter or niece, or the Heart Rug for your special pet. Crochet our pretty, pink collar for a gift or a rose- colored top for your mid-winter vacation.
For our tatting friends, we have included two tatted hearts patterns. Next, impress your family by making ‘Cupid’s Ice Cream’ or ‘Valentine Fondue’ from our “Foods” section, or jump ahead a month on the calendar for a ‘Shamrock Milk Shake’ or ‘Leprechaun Soup.’
