Seller's Description

Original circa 1898 10 1/4 inch x 6 3/4 inch etching and engraving of the ZEBRA

Drawn by Edmund Caldwell (1852 - 1930). Born in Canterbury, Caldwell spent most of his working life in Guildford and London. Best known for his watercolours of animals, landscapes and sporting scenes. He specialised in paintings of dogs. Later he took up sculpting, and also had a series of engravings published in The Gun at Home and Abroad, 1912-1914.
Caldwell exhibited at the Suffolk Street galleries, The New Watercolour Society, and the Royal Academy where he won a prize in 1884 for Run to Ground.

The print is in good condition with water staining at the right mainly in the white border but encroaching slightly into the image at bothe right corners. Reverse side blank.
