WAS GOING TO TRY AND HELP YOU OUT BUT WHAT'S WITH THE SHIPPING CHARGES

US Postal Service doesn't deliver packages free. For packages, those are dependent upon weight, size, and distance from sender to recipient, and what service used. Plus, they change at least once a year (usually in January though there have been an occasional mid year change especially at times when gasoline prices skyrocket. They also vary depend upon carrier though for packages I've shipped, USPS is usually lower price than UPS or FedEx unless your a company shipping hundreds of packages a day in order to qualify for discounts. If I were to include shipping fees in price of an item, I would have to add worst case price to the cost of an item to ensure I don't loose money shipping an order.

On second thought, you may not have understood my reply to you initial message. Here's a 2nd attempt to explain: Regardless of whether a package is sent via USPS, UPS, FedEx or some other carrier, that carrier has a shipping fee based on size, weight, and distance to the recipient. Have you ever taken a letter or package to the US Post Office and been able to send it to someone without paying them for postage? If a seller lists an item with "Free Shipping", they are including what their worst case cost would be to ship it in their sales price. This means for short distance delivery of the package, they make more money than for long distance shipping. I only do that for small light weight items in which the shipping price would be that same for shipping anywhere in the country. Even then, postage rates in crease almost every January. For larger items (in this case, a large box holding 100 padded envelopes), distance and size of the package become a factor. By listing items for sale, with postage cost separate, I can offer lowest price I can to the buyer. Also, I don't have to edit my listings annually to increase the price of thousands of listings every time there is an increase in shipping rates. This is because, the cost to ship is computed at time of sale based on the carrier's rates at this time. This gives the buyer, that current shipping fee rather than an inflated shipping fee added to the sales price of an item. I most often ship via US Postal Service because they tend to have lower shipping cost for most items I sell. In the event of a box larger than 1 cubic foot, it is sometimes less expensive to ship via UPS. This is because USPS charges more when over 1 cubic foot. Similarly, UPS has a price increase for packages over 3 cubic feet. FedEx is usually the highest shipping cost for packages so I rarely use them.
