Seller's Description

Original British 17 inch x 11 inch Trade Advertisement for the 1937 David Butler Musical Fantasy ALI BABA GOES TO TOWN starring Eddie Cantor, Tony Martin, Roland Young, June Lang, Gypsy Rose Lee, Raymond Scott and His Quintet, John Carradine, Virginia Field, Alan Dinehart and Douglass Dumbrille.

A movie company is doing the Arabian Nights when a tramp enters their camp, falls asleep and dreams he's back in Baghdad as advisor to the Sultan. In a spoof of Roosevelt's New Deal, he organizes work programs, taxes the rich and abolishes the army.

The advert artwork is by A. “Jock” W. Hinchliffe.
Hinchliffe was born in Perth, Scotland. In 1953 he had a studio in Chalk Farm, North London, where he produced a series of six oil paintings as publicity for 20th Century Fox’s “The Robe”. He had been engaged by Fox in 1926 and produced posters and ads continuously for them, and for Disney, well into the 1960s.

The Advertisement is in very good condition.
