RA1 This is a beautiful undated but modern published official postcard from Londons Royal Academy Of Arts for this historic painting of Angelica Kauffman and Colour from 1778 from her collection Design & Colour with artist details, dates, dimensions etc & Royal Academy Of Arts logo on reverse being the official souvenir from when exhibited unused and mint.
An artist in a natural landscape reaches to a rainbow above her to collect colour with her paintbrush. In her other hand she holds a palette with a single daub of white paint. She represents Painting or Colour, as one of the elements of art. A chameleon at her feet represents the diverse colours found in nature. Her hair and dress are loose leaving the figure partially unclothed. She is seated on the edge of a wood with a rocky landscape and mountains behind her.
