Genuine Antique 9ct Rose Gold Large Shell Cameo Brooch Pin
Hello there and welcome (kroeso) to my wee store.
I sell online in high-end shops and websites and pre-Covid used to attend trade fairs around the globe. I have a huge stock of "bargain basement" items which were great at fairs for inexpensive extras. I also have a massive stock of highly valuable and collectable items never seen before on the internet.
I find it heart-breaking that brooches such as this no longer seem to have the appeal they once did as they are one of the most versatile pieces of jewellery you could have.
Cameo brooches demonstrate some of the most artistic creations available with designs being hand carved out of different materials.
ABOUT THIS BROOCH
Constructed from solid 9ct rosey gold (375 parts per 1000)
Fully UK maker assay marked and x-ray tested.
Dates to middle of the 19th Century (c1860s)
Features a highly detailed lady facing right which has been painstakingly hand carved out of a piece of a conch shell. The detail is fantastic.
Lovely gold work around the mount with scroll and ball details.
Fastens with a silver hinge pin and C hook clasp - all in good order.
Condition is excellent, especially considering its age.
Height is 37.5mm.
Width is 31 mm.
It sits 10 mm proud.
Weight is 7 grams (rounded up to nearest)
You would expect to pay between £750 and £1,500 for a brooch like this at a fancy antique jeweller, depending on your ability to hunt down a bargain.

CONDITION REPORT
Many of my brooches are VERY old and have some signs of this. I ensure they are fully operational and can be worn from arrival but I do not like polishing them to "as new" because I feel this detracts from their history. I will consider doing so, for a small fee, if you ask nicely ;-)
I guarantee all items to be as described and will accept a return on anything you are not happy with.
