Ray Coleman was the first journalist to be introduced to the Beatles by Brian Epstein when he worked at “Melody Maker,” and eventually became the editor of this music paper. He wrote the definitive biography on John Lennon called “Lennon.”
I first met Ray Coleman at the annual Beatles festival in Liverpool in 1989 and at Beatlefest in Los Angeles in 1989 and several times in the 1990s. We became good friends. He gave me his business card in 1992 so I could keep in touch with him. Unfortunately, Ray died in September of 1996.
