Seller's Description

Original British 40 inch x 81 inch 3-Sheet Poster for the 1952 Ronald Neame Comedy THE CARD (THE PROMOTER), based on the novel by Arnold Bennett with a screenplay by Eric Ambler and starring Alec Guinness, Glynis Johns, Petula Clark, Valerie Hobson, Edward Chapman, Veronica Turleigh, George Devine, Frank Pettingell, Gibb McLaughlin, Joan Hickson, Henry Edwards, Matthew Guinness, May Hallatt, Michael Hordern, Wilfrid Hyde-White and Ewen Solon.

Guinness comes up trumps as the back-street washerwoman’s son who rises to the heights of mayordom at the end of the 19th century.

Printed by W.E. Berry, Ltd., Bradford

The poster is in good folded condition in 2 separate sheets with some paper loss, particularly at the top cross fold and elsewhere to a lesser degree. There is a Canadian censor stamp just below the image of Petula Clark and a large sticker over the original title with the American title ‘The Promoter’.
