Seller's Description
1925 was the year Columbia switched from the old method of acoustically recorded pressings to the new electric recording process licensed from Western Electric. This company has a long history, dating back to 1888, and was one of the "Big Three" in recording companies, competing with Edison and Victor. They remain the oldest continually used brand name in recorded sound, now owned by Sony Music since 1988.
Offered here is one of the new "electrical process" Viva-tonal recordings from the mid-1920's. This is a near mint and remarkably clear sounding pair of military marches, record #728-D. Only the lightest of playwear shows, and we see no scuffs or scratches. A high gloss remains with no cracks, chips, or skips.
Side 142369 presents "Lights Out March", and side 142370 offers Wagner's "Under The Double Eagle March". Each is superbly played by The Columbia Band.
