Hotshot attorney Cruise joins Holbrook’s family lawyer firm who, it turns out, are involved in other family business - the Mafia’s - and the only way out is death. The firm’s world-weary old-timer Hackman is supposed to brainwash Cruise, but he prefers to take a vacation with Tom’s wife Tripplehorn.
