Impel 1991 Hockey Trading Card #77 Jim McKay USA Olympics Hall of Fame
I acquired this card from an estate sale.
Jim McKay Special Contributor U.S. Olympic Games Hall of Fame. Card #77 from the 1991 Impel set.

Date of birth: Sept. 21, 1921
Birthplace: Philadelphia, PA
Hometown: Monkton, MD
College: Loyola College
He has covered the Olympic Games eleven times, from the 1960 Rome Olympic Games for CBS to the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary. His live news reports of the terrorist attack on the Olympic village during the Munich Olympic Games in 1972 are remembered by millions of viewers and won McKay two Emmys - the only Emmys ever won for news coverage by a sports commentator. McKay began his television career in 1947 as host of "The Sports Parade", becoming the first TV face that the city of Baltimore had ever seen. Three years later, he went on to work for CBS-TV in New York, anchoring shows such as "Youth Takes a Stand" and "This is New York" and anchoring the Masters and PGA championships. He joined ABC in 1967 for an experimental show titled "ABC's Wide World of Sports" and has been with them ever since, covering more than 100 different sports in more than 40 countries. Today, McKay is still working for ABC Sports and is a member of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame.
