From his sumptuous house in London, Leo, an exiled prince, contemplates the poverty of the street outside, inhabited by blacks and poor whites. This modern fable about a withdrawn, solitary man who starts to communicate with the world is one of Boorman’s most daring achievements (rewarded with the Best Director prize at Cannes). A Brechtian tale, revising ‘The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock’, and featuring a quintessential Mastroianni performance.
