Too Easy Stained Glass
A great technique that takes the place of other more elaborate methods of stained glass such as bias tape appliqué. Similar to the reverse appliqué method, our Too Easy Stained Glass method is quicker and so versatile!
Too Easy Stained Glass is a fun and simple way to make an intricate stained glass quilt. Use fusible web and customize your fabric to “see” anything through the window. This pattern uses a variety of Oriental-style prints. There are lots of possibilities!
Materials List
Fabrics: requirements are based on 40” wide fabric (use best quality 100% cotton fabrics and prewash, dry and iron before cutting)
Theme fabric……………………………..fat quarter (18” x 22”)
Use this fabric to inspire your other fabric choices
Crane and Rower Medallions……………½ yard (.4 metre)
Sashiko Panel and one Clamshell Unit….5/8 yard (.5 metre)
Second Clamshell Unit…………………..¼ yard (.2 metre)
Light Print………………………………..¾ yard (.6 metre)
(First border)
Outer border and binding*……………..1¾ yards (1.5 metres)
*Directional print; for non—directional you will need 1¼ yards (1.1 metres)
Black window leading………………….1-1/8 yards (1 metre)
Backing…………………………………1¾ yards (1.5 metres)
