Backstory on how I got Mr. Farnsworth’s photo and autograph:
In 1985 I attended the National Film Society’s convention in Los Angeles. One of the NFS staff said he needed to go to Mr. Farnsworth’s house to interview him for an article for their American Classic Screen magazine. He asked me to go with him. How could I turn down that offer? Mr. Farnsworth’s home was in Burbank, and I was lucky enough to not only meet him, but his charming wife, too. (His wife Maggie died a few months later.) I took this photo myself in his den, which has lots of his memorabilia hanging on the wall. I asked him if I could mail the photo to him for his autograph if he would kindly mail it back to me. He was so gracious and said “yes.” As a courtesy, I sent an additional copy for him to keep.
