This is a rare UNIVERSAL STUDIOS MARDI GRAS 2002 HEAVY BRONZE & CLOISONNE LETTER OPENER.
This beautiful letter opener uses the medallion (one side) that was was created for the 2002 Mardi Gras at Universal studios Florida, an annual event started in 1996 of which this was the 7th.
Six inches long, the the medallion is 1-1/2 inches in diameter (the size of a silver dollar the back is blank) and appears to be made of bronze. The medallion is a little smaller than the current ones.
Information on this is hard to find and few ever seem to get listed
