Seller's Description
Detailed Condtion : Missing metal hoop, paint is rough in places, rough on bottom. Mechanical operation works great!
This is a vintage cast iron mechanical bank with the classic "Trick Dog" scene. Place a coin in the dog's mouth; when a small lever is pressed on the right side, the dog flies forwards through the hoop (which is missing) and drops the coin into the slot on top of the barrel. The mechanics work great; I tried it with a penny, nickel, dime and quarter and the dog dropped them flawlessly into the barrel each time. (The second photo shows the dog in the "up" position.)

This bank measures about 7-3/4" in length, 2-5/8" in width and stands 6-3/4" high. It is heavy, weighing about 3 lbs. 12 ozs. Although I am not an expert at cast iron dating, I believe this is a reproduction....most likely made in the mid 20th century.
Overall, the paint is in pretty good condition for its age. It is flaked off quite a bit on the ends and back side. There are flaked and soiled areas on the clown, dog and barrel. Some of the paint is missing on the words "Trick Dog" on the front. The bank sits level but the bottom is in rough shape with some rust and a lot of paint missing (see last photo above). As noted above, the metal ring that the clown holds is missing. The rubber stopper is also missing.
This bank would make a wonderful addition to a cast iron or mechanical bank collection! Please e-mail me with any questions regarding condition.
